AIX system engineering and build/configurations, Hardware recommendations, Software evaluation, Software upgrades, Enterprise Standards planning, Creation of monitoring scripts, Creation of NIM Server, Setting and deploying security standards, assisting with DR planning and testing, as well as day to day server support.  Currently we are performing a mass install/configuration of new hardware, including pSeries 690s, 670s, 650s and 630s configured in LPAR mode.

Consulting duties include:

 

IBM AIX system engineering, and configuration of enterprise class 7x24 mission critical servers.  Involved with configuration and hardware standards development for corporate wide utilization, across multiple platforms.  Evaluating switched fiber connectivity and boot capability in the AIX environment.  Performed preliminary evaluation of AIX 5L’s new features.  Lead Engineer on the P690 Regatta project, which includes configuration of 4 P690s in LPAR mode running AIX5.1. Development of Shell and Perl utilities for proactive monitoring, alternate boot drive backup, and management of SSH user accounts and keys. Provided System V packaging of some third-party software for deployment in the AIX environment. Third level support for AIX problems and outages.  Occasionally install and configure Solaris OS and Veritas software, on SUN hardware, in accordance with current Verizon standards.  Attend “Engineering Design Review” meetings to determine necessary hardware requirements for new applications.  Assist other groups with AIX related questions and problems.  Worked with EMC’s Professional Services Engineers in the development of a DR solution for a major applications, utilizing EMC’s Time FinderÓ and SRDFÓ technologies.

Disaster recovery, I/O tuning using LVM, Script creation for data manipulation and automated maintenance, Informix software upgrades, Index rebuilds and table reorganization, Creation of Perl front ends for Informix tools as well as database problem determinations and resolution. 

 

Programming Duties include:

 

Creation of Shell and Perl utilities to provide front ends for OS / Database commands, as well as, text processing, data scrubbing, and problem solving.  Host based Informix 4GL database application development and maintenance. The Money Manager II ©, consists of individually customized vault management systems for large financial institutions, written in Informix 4GL.
