Description:   Recent developments in the field of smart sensor systems are reviewed. A systematic approach towards the design of smart sensor systems is presented. Smart sensor systems involving the measurement of physical quantities such as temperature, pressure, strain, acceleration, magnetic fields, etc. through the use of electrical, optical, and other transduction methods is discussed.
