Practicums

Practicums: Spring 2017

Practicums are Matlab based Lab sessions. Nominally, practicums are scheduled for Thursday mornings 9-11am and lectures are scheduled for MWF's 10:30-11:20am. In practice, although we will use this nominal schedule as a framework, lectures and practicums will be more interleaved. We may sometimes work on practicum procedures on MWF's and we may sometimes do some lecturing on Thursdays. Below, the practicum schedule and the practicum report due dates are/will-be listed.

Practicum I -- Thurdays, 1/26 and 2/2, 9am to 11am in CEER 001.
You will do Practicum 1, Section 1.6 of the Course Notes, pp. 53-56. The Report Form (p. 57 of the Course Notes) is due Thurday 2/16 at the beginning of the Practicum II session.

Practicum II -- Thursday 2/16, 9am to 11:20pm, CEER 001.
See Course Notes Section 1.7. The "report form", p.65 of the Course Notes, is due Thursday 3/2 at the beginning of the practicum session. For this practicum you are to do Sections 1,2 and 3 only. Note that there is a procedure that should be completed before the practicum session. Also before the practicum session, read the Background section. Practicum IVa -- Thursdays 3/2 & 3/16, 9am to 11:00pm, CEER 001.
See Course Notes Section 3.6. For this practicum you are to do Sections 1 and 2 only. The Report Form, p. 217 of the Course Notes, is due Thursday 3/23 at the beginning of the practicum session. Note that there is a procedure (i.e. Procedure 1(a)) that should be completed before the practicum session. Also before the 3/2 practicum session, read the Introduction Section on p. 214 (this 1-st practicum session will begin with a discussion of this introduction).

Practicum IVb -- Thursday 3/23, 9am to 11:20pm, CEER 001.
See Course Notes Section 3.6. For this practicum you are to do Procedure 3 only. The Report Form, which will be distributed during the 3/23 practicum session, is due Thursday 3/30 at the beginning of the practicum session. The data file for this Practicum, i.e. pract2_dat.mat, will be emailed to you.

Practicum VII -- Thursdays 3/30 and 4/6 (and Fri. 4/7), 9am to 11:20pm, CEER 001.
See Course Notes Section 6.4, pp. 384-5. The Report Form, which will be distributed during the 3/30 practicum session, is due Thursday 4/20 at the beginning of the practicum session. The data file for this Practicum, i.e. the AEdat text file, has been emailed to you.

Practicum VIII -- Thursdays 4/20 and 4/27, 9am to 11:20pm, CEER 001.
See Course Notes Section 6.5, pp. 389-392. Take a look at the Matlab code therein before the 4/20 practicum session. The Report Form, which will be distributed during the 4/20 practicum session, is due by 11am on Thursday 5/4.
